Summary/objective:
The Behavior Management Specialist assists the River Academy Director in the screening, selection, training, and supervision of direct care staff and Assistant Day Teacher Counselors. The Behavior Management Specialist is responsible in the absence of Program Directors for supervision of River Academy and to act as Shift Supervisor of Wiley Center Campus during shift hours. The Behavior Management Specialist provides supervision and direction to all Assistant Day Teacher Counselors and One-on-One Assistants. The Behavior Management Specialist also acts as liaison between River Academy and Wiley Center. This is a year-round position.
Requirements:
- Must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social sciences or related field.
- Minimum age requirement is 21.
- Three years’ experience working with children and/or adolescents is required with experience in a residential treatment setting preferred.
- Must have the physical health and capacity to physically manage clients with aggressive or self-injurious behavior when necessary.
- Must be able to drive a car/van and possess a class D Tennessee operator’s license including a for-hire endorsement.
- Must be willing to receive a Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Trainer certification and conduct training quarterly or as necessary for agency staff.
- Must be willing to provide supervision and training for direct care staff in receiving medication distribution certification.
- Must complete a minimum of 24 hours annual in-service training to include all mandated training.
- This position involves a risk of exposure to communicable diseases; therefore, the employee must be familiar with/and practice Universal Health precautions.
- Must subscribe to the agency’s Mission Statement and organizational values.
- Must have at least 2 years’ supervisory experience.
- Must demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the various cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the clients and staff members.
Salary: From $35,568.00 per year
