Hope & Thrive Academy

Holston Home for Children serves adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through a program called Hope & Thrive Academy (HTA).

In our program, we focus on all areas that promote growth: Academic, Physical, Social, Emotional, Vocational, and Spiritual.

Often, young adults who have graduated or aged out of high school drift into a life of isolation, loneliness, and inactivity. Seeing the need to fill a desperate void within our local community, we’ve created an innovative program that maximizes independence, social maturity, and spiritual growth for students with disabilities. Our program invites them back to a productive life of gainful employment, vibrant social engagement, and physical fitness. Hope & Thrive Academy opens new vistas for an underserved segment of our community!

Our driving force is a passionate desire to help those who cannot help themselves while raising the trajectory of their lives and empowering them and their families to lead more productive and fulfilling lives within our communities. We also have a desire to partner with our families in providing an answer to the question parents and caregivers often ask: “What happens to my child with disabilities if something happens to me?”

Hope & Thrive Academy offers students two tracks: Independence Track and Social Track.

INDEPENDENCE TRACK:

Students enrolled in the Independence Track work or volunteer in the community on Monday and
Tuesday utilizing supports through ECF Choices, Vocational Rehabilitation or MAPs, then meet for
classes on Thursday and Friday from 8:30 AM – 2:30 PM during the academic year (August – May).
Summer Adventure Activities will be scheduled during June and July.

Families registering for the Independence Track have the opportunity to apply for financial aid.
Tuition rates are on a sliding scale fee based on household income. For families who elect not to
apply for financial aid, tuition will automatically be set at the full tuition amount of $11,000/year or
$916.67/month.

Tuition rates are based on admittance, not attendance, and will not be prorated. Tuition is paid on a
monthly basis and due on the 5th of each month. Tuition can be paid by ACH Draft, check, or cash.
